Do you feel stuck? Lost? Depressed? We all face painful and difficult situations in life, but only a few know how to use their past experiences as a starting point for a new life full of happiness. I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor with years of experience, and my mission is to help you to explore your past, find your hidden potential and uncover all the necessary resources you need to develop and grow.

   
      Why Psychodynamic  
             Counselling?

 Psychodynamic Counselling enables us to create a therapeutic alliance which treats your symptoms and suffering through talking. I am trained to listen to your story by providing you a space to talk openly and freely. I will be able to listen to your story allowing you to give voice to your symptoms.  I will pay close attention not just to the words you use, but to the words that you omit or leave unsaid.
The focus in therapy is to open avenues for growth and endeavour to facilitate change. We will explore the way you relate to your sense of self, your family, groups and society.  Therapeutic work will open up a vast reservoir of feelings and complex emotions that may be outside of your conscious awareness but have been actively informing  your relational patterns, sense of self and your way of life. The same blocks that have prevented you from developing good relationships and finding happiness, will emerge in our therapeutic relationship. We will explore what they are and how they came into being.  Psychodynamic Therapy involves dedication, time commitment and a willingness to explore your emotions. Although this kind of work may sound quite demanding it is potentially very rewarding and will potentially bring long lasting benefits.

       
           What to Expect

We will have an initial assessment during which time we establish a time and day for once a week sessions which will last 50 minutes. During sessions you can talk about any issues that you are currently experiencing or any difficulties you have experienced in the past. You are not obligated to talk about anything that you feel uncomfortable about, however, therapy can bring up painful memories from the past and the best place to explore these is within a safe environment with a trained therapist. Therapy differs from everyday conversations with friends and family, as it is only a one way relationship, it is only about you. The 50 minutes is focussed on you, your thoughts, your emotions, anxieties and issues. Together we will explore your internal world and discover how you can move forward.

             About Me

I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) as well as being a member of the British  Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their code of ethics. I am committed to providing Psychodynamic Counselling in a confidential and safe environment in North London.
In addition to my counselling experience I have worked for over 20 years in education and have a Master’s Degree in Education. This experience has been invaluable to me in terms of understanding the difficulties parents experience with their adolescents growing up today in an ever changing and technologically advanced world. Working in education has also enabled me to better understand the effects of working in an increasingly pressurized and stressful environment that many people find themselves trapped in nowadays.
I am committed to continuing my professional development and regularly attend training courses with a particular focus on sexual abuse, trauma, depression and relationship difficulties.
